The comeback of Mid Century style, even in the bathroom

If you love an elegant style, with a vintage flavour and an overall balanced and subtle effect, Mid Century style décor is what you are looking for. Recently back in vogue, this style became popular after World War II  and still inspires the choices of today’s interior designers. The “modern solutions” of the 1950s, with their functional design and simple, unadorned elegance, are highly appreciated for both domestic and commercial premises.

The Mid Century style is characterised by a subdued and refined elegance that shuns excess and reflects the cultural and creative ferment that permeated the years of recovery and economic boom after the tragedy of the world war.

In Mid Century style settings, flair finds expression in the use of pastel and soft colours, favouring the combination of white with blue, green or mustard yellow, but also pink. As for the choice of materials, glossy lacquered or otherwise coloured wood is a must.

Tinsel, ornaments and extravagance should be avoided. Light, delicate colours are to be preferred for the walls, where one can play with contrasting tiles. Half-wall panelling in white or neutral colours is also in keeping with this furnishing style.

Mid-century style bathroom furnishings include sanitary ware and washbasins with flowing, harmonious lines. Among Flaminia’s proposals, the Efi and the Madre collections are a perfect match if one leans towards a more classical or contemporary trend, whereas, with their rounded shapes, the washbasins and sanitary ware from the Bonola and the Monò collections are a choice well in keeping with modern mid-century interior design.

The new Settecento washbasin, in both its pedestal and its countertop versions, also fully embodies this type of refined and well balanced elegance that evokes the shapes of the past.
