Exhibitions, meetings and charity initiatives mark Flaminia’s 70th anniversary

Flaminia turns seventy and for the occasion presents FLAMINIA CULTURE, a programme of initiatives reflecting the social responsibility values held the company, which has always been committed to the community around it.

Environmental and human sustainability, design culture, technological innovation, attention to social change and dialogue with the new generations are at the core of the perspective from which Flaminia investigates today’s world, through meetings, exhibitions, cultural events and sports activities also for the young.

The journey set off from Rome with an initial event centred on the theme of production sustainability entitled “Design, IndustrIa, ArchItettura: Il progetto consapevole” (Design, Industry, Architecture: The conscious project). The keynote speakers were: Gilda Bojardi (Editor-in-Chief of Interni magazine and founder of Fuorisalone), Giulio Cappellini (Art Director of Flaminia), Domitilla Dardi (curator for design at the MAXXI museum in Rome), Elena Salmistraro (Italian product designer and artist), Lazzarini Pickering Architetti (multidisciplinary studio).

The celebrations for the 70th anniversary of the company’s foundation continued at the Milan showroom with a display of ceramic objects made by the students of Liceo Artistico U. Midossi of Civita Castellana, the town where the company is based. The exhibition, entitled Masks, Animals, Chess, Tarot Cards, Transformations and Portraits, showcased the link between the Viterbo area and ceramic workmanship: a heritage of culture and knowledge handed down over centuries.

The mask, chess, tarot cards, animals, portraits and transformations from primary solids were the themes proposed to the students, who were asked to produce a design project. From the two-dimensional processing of creative thinking, they moved on to a three-dimensional experience with clay modelling and the subsequent glazing of the ceramic objects.

Young people were also at the centre of the Decori Milano project, a ceramic vase based on a design by Giulio Cappellini. The vase draws inspiration from the decorative language that characterised the front doors of early 20th century Milan buildings. Available in four colours and made in a single piece, the vase was sold at an auction by Sotheby’s to support the activities of the San Patrignano Community which, for over forty years, has offered free treatment programs to young people with addiction problems.

These and other initiatives will celebrate the company’s 70th anniversary throughout the year.
