Urban chic furnishing is a trend in modern style, from which it takes its minimalism and its essentiality, which is characterised by metropolitan and industrial elements combined with a cosy and warm elegance. Initially limited to big cities, now the urban chic style is also widely adopted in the interior design of homes, offices and shops in suburban and non-urban areas.
While large open-plan rooms are ideal for this furnishing trend, it can still be applied in small spaces and succeed in enhancing them.
Features you cannot do without
Drawing from industrial style, urban chic décor cannot be without concrete or the typical loft bricks, whether in red or in white Old America style terracotta. The alternative is to resort to porcelain stoneware, choosing a decoration that reproduces the texture of concrete or wood grain. Another must-have material is black metal or steel.

Sanitary ware and washbasins should have clean, essential lines, and exceedingly elegant or baroque lines should be avoided. With its pure, rounded lines, the App collection fits perfectly into this context, but the wall-hung toilets and bidets in the new Play line, with their pure, neutral contours, are also ideally suited for this style. Suspended installation is preferable to floor installation at a distance from the wall, and flush-to-wall installation is a valid alternative. Colours may range from grey to black to terracotta shades, also matching the tones of the walls. Even classic glossy white or matt white should not be ruled out.
In an urban chic bathroom, the washbasins must be in keeping with the style of the sanitary ware: essential and modern. Combined with Flaminia furniture, the countertop or wall-hung App and AppLight models – soft and rounded the former, square shaped the latter – reflect the dictates of this style. The countertop or the suspended installation with metal towel bar are to be preferred over the others.
For the shower/bathtub area, if the size of the room allows it, minimalist style white, grey or black oval tubs, such as those in the App or Oval collections, may be installed. The new slim CM3 shower trays in matt grey and matt black, which recreate the concrete effect, are another option that is aesthetically pleasing and easy-to-use.
