Sanitary ware distances: the rules to consider
The creation of a bathroom, both new and renovated, cannot fail to respect the minimum distances between sanitary ware. To best adjust the dimensions of the bathroom fixtures – and thus ensure their use as easily as possible – attention must be paid both to the position of the bathroom fixtures (strictly dependent on the different minimum measures of the sanitary ware) and to their mutual distance.
The wc and basin, for example, are twin appliances. Based on their minimum dimensions, wc and basin should therefore be arranged side by side or, alternatively, placed one in front of the other, adopting a space-saving solution. Another critical aspect concerns the minimum distance between wc and basin: it is not recommended, from a hygienic and practical point of view, that the part dedicated to objects, such as toothbrushes or soap, is too close to the vase.
The minimum space for sanitary ware: what the rules say
The UNI 9182 regulation stipulates the minimum spaces between the various bathroom fixtures. Here are the steps to take:
- The wc must be installed at least 15 cm from the wall;
- The bidet at least 20 cm;
- Between the wc and the bidet the distance of 20 cm must be respected;
- Between the wc and the basin must be at least 10 cm away;
- In general, all bathroom fixtures needs a minimum distance of at least 55 cm from a front wall or the opposite sanitary.
