The return of décor in the bathroom

Decorated ceramics were very much the vogue in the 1960s and 1970s, but in later years disappeared almost completely to make room for a more understated and minimalist style. Today, decoration and colour have recovered centre stage in the bathroom environment and decorated bathroom fixtures are no longer viewed as out of style.

While for several decades decorated bathroom fixtures were considered vintage, now they are a niche but high-end option for those who want to make their bathroom a gem.

Latest trends in bathroom decor

To sum up the history of decoration in a few words, we could say that the décor of sanitary ware in the past was more figurative and ornamental, very different from the décor that is in nowadays. The evolution of taste, graphics and aesthetics over the years has led to decorations featuring more geometric, abstract or naturalistic motifs and with increasingly complex effects that reproduce natural materials and textures.

Anticipating this trend, Flaminia has focused on three-dimensional decorations and motifs with mixed overlapping effects. The special material and visual quality of this décor is the result of an innovative technique, never used before on ceramic sanitary wares.

In its Blue and Red versions, the Tratti décor, designed by Elena Salmistraro, is applied to the new CM3 shower trays and NudaFlat consoles.
