How to furnish an ecological bathroom and which products to choose

Reducing energy consumption and saving on bills are two increasingly influential aspects in choosing products for your home. Fundamental in this sense is the selection of green products in the rooms of your home that cause the greatest expenditure of energy, such as the kitchen and bathroom. Choosing an ecological type of bathroom furniture not only allows you to reduce water and energy consumption to heat water, but also reduces costs. In addition to major interventions on the home, such as solar panels, interventions on windows and facades for thermal insulation and the purchase of high energy class appliances, sanitary ware and taps also make a difference.

Green sanitary ware, furniture and taps

Ceramica Flaminia, which has always been sensitive to environmental protection, in compliance with European regulations, has applied a drain on all toilet lines that, combined with the two-flow cisterns, allows them to drain with 4.5/6 liters. Compared to the traditional 9 liters, this type of ecological sanitary ware guarantees a considerable water saving at each discharge.

In addition to the choice of the toilet, the other bathroom furniture products are also decisive for creating an eco-sustainable bathroom. In fact, there are also basins and bidet mixers on the market that reduce the waste of water and energy used to heat it. The ecological bathroom mixer, combined with a toilet and a low water consumption cistern, is essential for having a bathroom with a low environmental impact.

If you take the path of eco-sustainable bathroom furniture, the options are not over. The furniture can be made with ecological materials or deriving from recycling. The ecological bathroom furniture is an increasingly popular practice even among furniture manufacturers. Green bathroom furniture is now a basic request for this environment as well as for the other rooms in the house.

Not just green products

Having an ecological bathroom at home does not only mean furnishing it with the right products, but also paying attention to how these are made. If the manufacturer, in the various stages of the production process, follows procedures that do not harm nature, which provide for the recycling of materials, which guarantee energy savings, the harmful effect on the environment can be weakened. Ceramica Flaminia fully embraces this perspective and respects existing ecological standards for each stage of production.

  • Energy: Since 2012, the company has invested in the installation of photovoltaic panels on the 25,000 square meter factories where production, warehouse and offices are located. The solar panels cover an area of approximately 14,000 square meters which produces green energy equal to 350,000 Kw/h every year.
  • The structure: The warehouse, recently built with respect to the factory, was built following the design and construction criteria of sustainable architecture and its appearance integrates harmoniously with the surrounding natural context, without disfiguring the landscape but communicating with it.
  • The water: A basic element in ceramic processing, the water at the end of the process is completely purified and reinserted into the production cycle in order to reduce consumption and leave the ecosystem clean and uncontaminated.
  • The scraps: The ceramic waste material, still raw, is reused for new mixtures, while the already cooked pieces that do not pass the quality control are crushed and used as raw material in other sectors, such as construction.

Flaminia’s sensitivity to environmental issues is such that the company has dedicated the stand of the 2019 edition of Cersaie, the most important Italian trade fair event in the sector, to green issues, choosing the rainforest as the setting. A choice of character that, through an immersive experience, aimed to raise public awareness of the emergency of climate change. The stand, designed by art director Giulio Cappellini, was awarded the ADI Booth Design Award 2019.
